Marathi actress Ketki Chitale, arrested for allegedly sharing an objectionable post on social media about NCP Chairman Sharad Pawar, was taken to her home by police on Monday and electronic evidence was collected. The police stayed at her house for about an hour, during which time the actress’s phone and laptop were confiscated.
So far 6 cases have been registered against 29-year-old actress Ketki Chitale in different districts of Maharashtra. She was arrested two days ago and the court sent the actress into police custody until May 18. This afternoon, police team from Thane Crime Branch and Kalamboli arrived at the house of Ketki ‘Avalon’ in connection with the presentation of evidence in the case.
The Pune Cyber Police has said that it will seek custody of the actress after the Thane Police custody period ends. The Pune Cyber Police has also registered a case against Chitale. Pune cyber police inspector Dagadu Hake said, “We have registered a case against Chitale and will apply for custody of her after she finishes the Thane police custody period.”
The 29-year-old film and television actress Chitale allegedly shared a post on her Facebook page that led to her arrest by Thane police on Saturday, the official said. The actress appeared in court on vacation on Sunday, which remanded her into police custody until May 18, a senior police official said.
Chitale and Nikhil Bhamre, a 23-year-old pharmacy student, were arrested on Saturday for sharing an objectionable post about Sharad Pawar. Comments like ‘hell awaits’ and ‘you hate brahmins’ have been written on the post shared by Chitale. Although Sharad Pawar’s name has not been written directly on the post, it has been written Pawar and the age has been written as 80 years old, while Sharad Pawar is 81 years old.
