Police Shoot Knife-Wielding Man at Paris Train Station, Two Injured

A police investigation into a domestic violence suspect escalated into a shooting incident at Paris’s Montparnasse train station on Friday, injuring two people and causing widespread panic. Officers shot a 34-year-old man after he brandished a knife and threatened them inside the bustling central Paris transport hub.

The suspect, who was being monitored by authorities for domestic violence, was injured in the leg. A passerby also sustained a non-life-threatening foot injury from a stray bullet.

The confrontation unfolded when police officers from Paris’s southern suburbs arrived at the station to question the man further. He had recently received an 18-month suspended prison sentence in September for domestic violence offenses.

Upon encountering officers, the man reportedly pulled out a knife and waved it menacingly. Police fired to neutralize the threat.

After being shot, the suspect attempted to harm himself by stabbing his neck. Emergency medical teams quickly intervened, bringing the situation under control and transporting the man to a hospital.

The incident caused significant alarm among passengers, many of whom ran for cover after hearing gunshots. It occurred just one day after France marked the 10th anniversary of the 2015 Paris attacks, heightening public anxiety. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed details of the incident.
