Police kill 6-year-old boy for asking for money for food

New Delhi: A police officer in India, enraged at repeatedly asking for money to feed a child, strangled him and killed him, police said.

According to Indian media, a police officer has been arrested in the state of Madhya Pradesh for allegedly killing a 6-year-old child.

According to media reports, the boy repeatedly insisted on money to satisfy his hunger, at which point the head constable strangled him to death.

Local police officer Aman Singh Rathore said that accused Ravi Sharma was posted in Gwalior and the police department has been recommended to dismiss him.

According to Rathore, the child came to ask for money to buy food. The policeman shook his head and chased him away.

The accused put the child’s body in his car after the murder and dumped it in a deserted area in the evening. Police later found the boy’s body.

Police say the suspect had been suffering from depression for some time.

The parents of the slain child had lodged a report of his disappearance on May 5, the day of his death. Police traced the suspect through CCTV footage of the scene.
