Polestar 4:Electric Power and Sustainability Redefined

The electric revolution is in full swing. Car makers are no longer just electrifying existing models, they’re reinventing the wheel. Polestar is one such brand, and its latest offering, the Polestar 4, is a bold statement. This all-electric SUV coupe combines Scandinavian design, cutting-edge tech, and a futuristic attitude.

Let’s dive into what makes the Polestar 4 tick. It measures 4,839 mm in length, 2,139 mm in width, and 1,534 mm in height. The front is dominated by the “Dual Blade” LED signature, which ditches the traditional grille for a closed surface. The car also features retractable door handles and digital cameras instead of conventional side mirrors.

But the real showstopper is the absence of a rear window. Instead, a high-definition digital rearview mirror provides a live feed from a camera mounted on the roof. This design choice allows for a more spacious interior and improved comfort for passengers.

Inside the Polestar 4

The interior is a masterclass in minimalism and ergonomics. The 15.4-inch central screen runs on Android Automotive OS, with Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Play Store integrated as standard. The digital instrument cluster measures 10.2 inches and can project information onto the head-up display with augmented reality.

The rear seats are a haven of luxury, with their own controls, armrests, and a generous amount of legroom. It’s the perfect space to relax and enjoy the ride.

Two Worlds, One Purpose

The Polestar 4 comes in two distinct configurations: Long Range Single Motor and Long Range Dual Motor. The single-motor version produces 272 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque, with a range of up to 610 km on a single charge. The dual-motor variant pumps out 544 horsepower and 686 Nm of torque, with a range of up to 560 km.

Both versions support fast charging, with the ability to reach 80% charge in around 30 minutes. They also feature adjustable regenerative braking modes, including a one-pedal driving mode perfect for urban driving.

Dynamics and Safety

The Polestar 4 is more than just a straight-line speedster. Its platform provides a solid foundation for agile handling, thanks to a multilink rear suspension and precise steering. The all-wheel-drive versions also feature semi-active suspension, which adjusts in real-time based on the driving mode.

In terms of safety, the Polestar 4 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of features, including:

  • Adaptive cruise control with stop and go
  • Lane departure warning and assist
  • Blind spot monitoring with active correction
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • 360-degree cameras and proximity sensors
  • Driver monitoring system with interior camera
  • Pre-installation for level 2+ semi-autonomous driving

The Polestar 4 is a game-changer in the world of electric mobility. With a starting price of around €64,000, it’s not cheap, but it’s a model that dares to be different, challenging conventional norms and forcing us to rethink what a modern SUV can be. The absence of a rear window may seem like a stylistic provocation, but it’s a deliberate choice that’s all about looking to the future.
