POCO C50 is the next cheap Xiaomi smartphone to hit stores

Xiaomi’s sub-brand focused on the low and mid-range segment, POCO, launched one of its cheapest smartphones of the year in June 2022. At stake is the POCO C40, a model that is now about to be replaced by the LITTLE C50.

The new model has already been certified in the Google Play listing where all mobile devices with access to Google services leave their registration. We know, therefore, that the new Android smartphone will not be long in coming and we already have more information.

POCO C50 will be one of Xiaomi’s cheapest smartphones

List of models with access to Google Play.

First of all, the possible Xiaomi POCO C50 has the model number 220733SPI, as we can see in the table of registered equipment on Google Play, above. That said, its launch should take place in late 2022.

Second, this same model had already appeared in the database with the different IMEIs of the new smartphones. It should be noted that the IMEI is the International Mobile Equipment Identity, that is, the international identification number of a mobile device.

Screen: IPS LCD at 60 Hz, 6.71” HD+
Processor: JLQ JR510 (11nm)
RAM: from 3GB
Storage: from 32GB
cameras: 13MP + 2MP / 5MP
Drums: 6,000 at 18W
Colors: Black, Yellow, Green

Third, the current POCO C40 is one of the cheapest smartphones you can buy in 2022. However, its technical features are frankly limited and the phone is only suitable for very basic and casual use.

That said, we do have a slight improvement in technical characteristics for the successor POCO C50, although at the moment it is impossible to be sure. Please note that information leaks always lack official confirmation.

However, there is a strong possibility that this POCO C50 is essentially a rebrand of the current Redmi A1, with some improvements. That is, this could be a Redmi A1 +, with improvements in the processor and other key areas of the Android smartphone.

The processor will be the MediaTek Helio A22, with a battery now of 5,000 mAh and charging at 10 W. That is, we would gain in processor, but we would lose in battery (not necessarily in autonomy), with less capacity and slower charging.

Possibly we would have the Android 12 Go Edition operating system, which would provide more fluidity and lightness to the system and installed apps. Additionally, security and system updates would be provided directly by Google.

We would also have a 6.52-inch diagonal screen, IPS LCD technology with a conventional 60 Hz refresh rate, so there are no improvements in this section. In addition, the resolution would remain at HD + (1600 x 720 pixels), therefore, with 720p.

It is better to buy the POCO M4 Pro on sale

Screen: AMOLED at 90 Hz, 6.43” Full-HD+
Processor: Mediatek Helio G96 (12nm)
RAM: from 6GB
Storage: from 64GB
cameras: 64MP + 8MP + 2MP / 16MP
Drums: 5,000 at 33W
Colors: Black, Yellow, Blue

As an alternative, we still have the POCO M4 Pro, a mid-range smartphone with some promotions applied and that, for a little more, is already much better equipped. The main improvement lies in the resolution and type of screen, as well as in the cameras.

Although it will also have to be replaced in a few months, at the moment it is quite captivating. For just over 200 euros, the M4 Pro is a good buy, especially when compared to the new generation of entry-level phones.

The Poco C50 lit up in the Google catalog. The Poco C50 will receive an IPS screen with a diagonal of 6.2 inches and HD+ resolution, a MediaTek Helio A22 SoC, Android 12 Go Edition operating system, a 5000 mAh battery with 10 W charging support, a front camera of 5 megapixels and a main camera with 8 megapixels

Finally, we always expect the consumer to win with new products and launches, especially from profitable brands like Xiaomi and its derivatives. Therefore, we strongly recommend the M4 Pro against the new low-end solutions where a lot is sacrificed for a tangentially lower price.
