Looking back to January, the team behind Pocketpair made a significant announcement with the launch of Pocketpair Publishing, a new division focused on publishing and distributing indie games, along with the confirmation of an upcoming new game release from Pocketpair Publishing. Although the new game has yet to be unveiled, John Buckley, the distribution manager at Pocketpair, recently expressed his concerns that many people might have sky-high expectations for their new title.
Buckley confessed that he’s actually nervous about the debut of their first published game, not because he’s worried about its potential reception, but because he fears that many might expect it to be similar to Palworld. “To be honest, I’m afraid of our first release, not because I think it’ll get a bad response – all the games are great, in my opinion – but I worry that people will expect it to be like Palworld,” he said. Buckley emphasized that Pocketpair Publishing’s primary goal is to introduce and promote awesome indie games, and he hopes that many will enjoy these new titles.
The concern, as Buckley clarified, stems from the fear that players might assume Pocketpair will solely focus on releasing games similar to Palworld, which is an Open-World Sandbox style game. He reassured that Palworld will not be affected by the operations of Pocketpair Publishing. As the gaming community waits for the new game release, it’s essential to keep an open mind and not have preconceived notions about what Pocketpair Publishing will bring to the table.
For those unfamiliar with Palworld, it’s worth taking a look at what this game has to offer, as seen in the image below.
