Pochettino blocked Chelsea’s exit at the end of the market

The winter transfer window has left Malang Sarr in a difficult situation with the 25-year-old Chelsea defender’s move to Le Havre blocked on deadline day. Despite his interest in parting ways with the English club, the Blues under Mauricio Pochettino decided to keep him until the end of the season.

Sarr, who rose through the ranks at OGC Nice before moving to Chelsea in 2020, has had limited involvement with the London side, playing just 21 games since his arrival. Despite previous loan spells, the player failed to establish himself in the first team and although this was not in Pochettino’s plans, Chelsea failed to find him a new destination.

Malang Sarr will stay until the summer

Le Havre wanted to strengthen its defense in the transfer market and offered Sarr the chance to revive his career. Although he was willing to take a significant pay cut to join the French team, the transfer fell through at the last minute.

The move was expected to be completed before the deadline, but efforts by Sarr’s representatives to terminate his contract with Chelsea were unsuccessful. The London club decided to keep the player, thwarting their plans to move to Le Havre in this transfer window. With this decision, Sarr risks having to wait until the end of the season to secure his departure from Chelsea and seek new opportunities at another club.
