A Meeting of Minds and Heritage
The meeting on Friday brought together Prime Minister Modi and distinguished Sikh community leaders. It wasn’t just a formal gathering. It created a deeply spiritual atmosphere. They also had serious talks about preserving important historical artifacts. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present for this significant event.
During Harshdeep Kaur’s moving performance of the Mool Mantra, the Prime Minister showed his deep reverence. Videos from the event show him standing with folded hands, his head covered by a cloth. His expression was full of devotion.
A key point of discussion during the meeting was the sacred ‘Jore Sahib’ heritage. This precious item is linked to Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur. The group talked about how to best protect and display this heritage. They gave the government ideas to make sure future generations can also see and respect these treasured items.
The Sacred ‘Jore Sahib’
So, what exactly is the ‘Jore Sahib’? It refers to a pair of sacred footwear. One bears the right footprint of Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj. The other holds the left footprint of Mata Sahib Kaur. These relics are considered incredibly holy within Sikh history and faith. It’s believed that Guru Sahib and Mata Sahib Kaur themselves gave these precious items to the Puri family over three centuries ago. Since that time, the Puri family has taken on the honor of caring for these spiritual treasures.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also shared details about this special meeting. He made a post explaining that his ancestors had the good fortune of serving Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj directly. Legend has it that Guru Sahib, pleased with their service, offered them a wish. His ancestors asked for the blessing to keep and serve the ‘Jore Sahib’. They wanted this heritage to be a blessing for their family and all future generations.
