Platense tied with Gimnasia in Vicente López

Platense tied 1-1 at home against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and although it could not hold on as leader of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol (LPF) championship at the end of the third date, it continues to occupy the first step of the positions , now accompanied by Estudiantes and Newell’s Old Boys.

Platense came out to play with the possibility at hand of reaffirming himself as the only leader in the championship, and Gimnasia knowing that if he won he would climb to the top step of the competition in the company of his classic rival, Estudiantes, and Newell’s Old Boys.

Two minutes into the field, Chávez backed up his coach’s vision by converting the winning goal from the right edge of the area with a left-footed shot from a mid-height cross.

However, Platense seems to have reached a certain level of maturity and without Mauro Zárate on the court, after a hardly discreet performance, he quickly reached a draw with another player who came from the substitute bench, also 21 years old, like Juan Cruz Esquivel.

This was Esquivel’s first goal in Vicente López’s team, and it ended up satisfying the local fans who believed everything was lost a couple of minutes before, but who were able to reverse that situation in the end.
