Platense reacted in time and defeated Banfield

Platense knew how to react to beat Banfield 3-1, in Vicente López, in a changing match valid for the 13th. date of the Professional Football League.

Maximiliano Cuadra put ‘Drill’ ahead in the first half, and in the second Mauro Zárate scored, from a penalty kick, Paraguayan Jorge Benítez and Rodrigo Contreras for ‘Squid’.

The local team ended a streak of three games without winning -one draw and two losses- and was positioned in fifth place with 21 points. For their part, the ‘albiverdes’ added their seventh game without winning (4 draws and 3 losses) and are relegated, with 15 units.

The early opening that Banfield marked, through a run by Cuadra, in a counterattack generated by Alejandro Cabrera, who defined low, next to the left post, facilitated the subsequent development of the game.

With intense and fast actions, in addition to the pressure exerted in the gestation area, the visiting team did not allow Platense to settle in the field. Therefore, the goalkeeper Facundo Cambeses hardly had any shocks in those initial 45 minutes.

Just a few shots from Alexis Sabella from long distance managed to generate some anxiety to a Banfileño background, which neutralized the onslaught of the local cast.

At the end of the first stage, an unusual situation occurred, since a player on the substitute bench was sent off. It was the Uruguayan defender from Platense, Haibrany Ruiz Díaz. who insistently and with some verbal excess complained to the referee Germán Delfino for a non-existent penalty in favor of his team. The player received a second warning that became red.

Another was the attitude and the impetus of the local team in the complement. The coach De Felippe adjusted parts and the ‘squid’ improved.

Thus, Cambeses had to intervene to save his fence on two occasions against two shipments from Benítez and Federico Gino, in the first 10 minutes.

So much so that he put pressure on Vicente López’s box, near the visiting area, that Emanuel Coronel was reckless and grabbed Benítez by the shirt, after a corner kick. The pertinent penalty allowed Zarate to equalize, at 12 minutes.

Immediately, without celebrating the conquest, the striker -former Vélez and Boca- went to the stalls to exchange insults with some fans, who from the first half were questioning the team and De Felippe.

The same thing was reiterated when Benítez, at 20 minutes, took advantage of a short clearance by Cambeses to score the second goal, with an outraged Zárate without stopping insulting those who offended him and without this being noticed by referee Delfino.

Platense took advantage of the momentum, managed the times of the match and in a reply, with Banfield playing for the tie, he was able to sentence the story, with a new conquest by Contreras.
