Placid victory of a very toned Barça

Barça won in Manresa because they are a better team and because they played better, yes, but above all because the locals couldn’t find a way to stand up to them. Without being able to beat them in static and with a very poor inside game, Manresa was soon far behind on the scoreboard. And Barça did not loosen. Distributing minutes and showing that they have a long squad, Jasikevicius’s men played very comfortably at times and more focused in others. A simple victory, to keep adding, in which the collective game prevailed over individual actions.

From the brilliant start of Manresa, with two triples by Harding, Barça went on to dominate. The defensive intensity of the locals almost always ended in a foul, entering the bonus too soon, giving away simple points to Barça. With practically no inside game, Manresa almost opted to shoot from outside while Barça, with much more records, punished from all parts of the pitch (10-18). Jasikevicius’ men came out with an unorthodox quintet (with Paulí and Da Silva), something that did not prevent them from clearly dominating the first quarter (13-30). They were superior in everything.

Manresa mitigated the poor shooting percentage with a higher number of rebounds while Lee was on court. They weathered the storm, stopped the gale, but were not able to significantly reduce the distance (20-34). Barça was not so devastating in attack either, with failures in released shots, but little by little it was getting better. Sanli, Abrines, Satoransky… His baskets brought Barça closer to victory (29-47). The punishment inside did not stop.

The advantage grew with an uninhibited Laprovittola and a reliable Sanli (35-57) without Barça taking their foot off the accelerator. Bortolani led a small local partial, but without Manresa being able to collectively elaborate. That’s what Pedro Martínez’s men lived on, individual actions, and that’s how it’s difficult to beat Barça. They got close (46-59) and Jasikevicius stopped it. The points continued to drop, but already in both hoops (57-77).

Such was the tranquility with which Barça went through the last quarter that Jasikevicius made Rafa Villar debut in ACB. And not only that, but he placed him alongside Caicedo, Da Silva, Paulí and Jokubaitis, the youngest on the team. And, like the rest of his companions, they also responded. Especially Da Silva and Jokubaitis, unleashed from the triple.
