Pierre Gasly topped the timesheets in the first Formula 1 practice session in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with a lap time of 1:29.239.
The Alpine driver used medium tires to achieve this, edging out Lando Norris by just seven-thousandths of a second.
In contrast, Norris used soft tires for his quickest lap.
Charles Leclerc finished third, 0.070 seconds off the pace, also on medium tires, while Oscar Piastri was fourth, 0.102 seconds behind Gasly.
Red Bull’s Mixed Showing
Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda, both driving for Red Bull, posted similar times using medium tires.
Verstappen, the four-time world champion, finished ninth, 0.579 seconds off Gasly’s pace, while Tsunoda was tenth, 0.582 seconds behind.
The closeness of the field was evident, with several drivers putting in competitive times.
