The noise around Pierre Gasly’s future has finally settled. Alpine made it official this Saturday: their French driver has inked a new deal, keeping him with the Enstone squad until 2028. At 29 years old, Gasly’s long-term commitment shows clear intent from both sides.
Gasly didn’t hold back his excitement. “I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine,” he shared. The connection runs deep for him. “As a Frenchman, driving for a French car company fills me with immense pride.” He explained his decision felt very natural. Since joining in 2023, he saw Alpine as the right place to build his future. The support from Flavio Briatore, an executive advisor, and François Provost, Alpine’s CEO, played a big part. Gasly also highlighted the dedicated folks at Enstone. He’s clear about the team’s shared ambition: “We want to win races and World Championships.” Gasly added, “We are all in this together, and I look forward to continuing this special story.” On a personal note, Gasly is currently in a relationship with Francisca Cerqueira Gomes from Portugal.
Flavio Briatore, Alpine’s executive advisor, praised Gasly’s role. He emphasized Gasly’s importance for the team’s long-term strength in Formula 1. Briatore has made it clear since his return: building up Alpine’s racing power is key. He sees the team as ready for F1’s big rule changes coming in 2026. “Now we have our main driver confirmed to lead us into the future,” Briatore stated. He called Gasly “an immense asset” during recent tough times. Briatore added, “I was very impressed with his attitude, dedication, and talent. We look forward to continuing this project together for a long time.”
Gasly first joined Alpine in 2023. While his own future is set, he doesn’t yet know who will drive alongside him next season. For now, his teammate is the Argentine Franco Colapinto.
Gasly’s Formula 1 journey began at the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2017. He has since competed in 169 races, showing his talent on multiple occasions. Throughout his career, the French driver has earned five podium finishes:
- Second place in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2019.
- A victory, first place, in Monza, Italy, in 2020.
- Third place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in 2021.
- Another third place finish in Zandvoort, Netherlands.
- And a third place again in São Paulo in 2024.
