Hollywood legend Pierce Brosnan recently stepped out for a special night, but it wasn’t just about the movie. The premiere of Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club turned into a family affair. Brosnan, at 72, walked the red carpet with his son, 28-year-old Dylan.
The event took place on Thursday, August 14, at the famous Plaza Hotel in New York. Brosnan looked sharp in a white jacket paired with black trousers. Dylan opted for a classic gray two-piece suit. It was a rare public appearance for the father-son duo, highlighting a strong family bond.
Brosnan is a father to five children. He shares Dylan and Paris, 24, with his wife, Keely Shaye Smith. From his late ex-wife, Cassandra Harris, he had Charlotte, who passed away in 2013, Christopher, 52, and Sean, 41. Brosnan adopted Charlotte and Christopher, who were Harris’s children from a previous relationship. The Irish actor has often spoken openly about his role as a present father.
He once shared how his own upbringing shaped his approach to fatherhood. "My paternal instincts are purely my own," Brosnan told Esquire in 2017. "They don’t relate to anybody, because there was no one." He described fatherhood as "a very arduous journey." Brosnan himself was raised by a single mother. He only met his own father once, back in 1984.
"I spent a Sunday afternoon with him," Brosnan recalled to the magazine. "A story about this and that, we had a few pints of Guinness and we said goodbye. I would have loved to have known him. He was a good whistler and he walked well. That’s all I know of him.” Despite a demanding acting career, Brosnan has always focused on his family. He has admitted, though, that he feels a bit cautious about his children following him into acting.
“Simply because it’s hard, hard work," he explained to GQ in 2022. "It’s a cross to bear. You’re building yourself up and destroying yourself." Still, his sons Dylan and Paris have found their own creative paths. Dylan has made a name for himself in modeling, while Paris has pursued a career in painting.
They shared with GQ that their famous dad taught them important life lessons. These included being prepared, having passion, building confidence, and always being on time. Dylan added that Brosnan also taught them to "not be afraid to make fun of yourself." This shows the actor’s playful side.
Brosnan himself is incredibly proud of Paris’s artistic talent. “He devours these canvases,” Brosnan marvelled to GQ. “It fills me with immense pride, father’s pride, to paint alongside him. Just to be silent in the garage or wherever we have painted. It’s a really beautiful experience.” Paris, in turn, believes his father "is becoming a legitimate artist" when they collaborate on art.
In a YouTube video titled "Sketch Yourself" from 2023, Paris revealed that Brosnan is his greatest artistic inspiration. "I grew up watching him paint," Paris said. "I saw how he would shut himself in the studio for hours and get lost there." It’s clear that the Brosnan family’s creativity runs deep, passed down through generations.
