Anna Montañana Officially Appointed as Coach of Perfumerías Avenida
Basketball Club Perfumerías Avenue Salamanca has announced the appointment of Anna Montañana as its new coach, effective immediately. Montañana, a natural of Alboraya, returns to the Würzburg Pavilion nine years after her last stint with the team, marking her sixth stage in the blue discipline.
Perfumerías Avenida’s Search for a New Coach
The team had been without a coach for over a month after the departure of Nacho Martinez, who had been at the helm for six months. Montañana’s appointment brings an end to the search for a new coach.
Anna Montañana’s Coaching Experience
As a player, Montañana played over 200 matches for Avenida and is one of the top scorers in the team’s history. She has also had experience as an assistant coach in the ACB league at Fuenlabrada and as head coach in the Liga Femenina Endesa at Gernika and Jairis Basketball Club. Montañana was named best coach of the 23-24 season after qualifying for the playoffs with Jairis and has recently been appointed coach of the Great Britain women’s national team.
Avenida’s Roster Still Under Construction
With Montañana now at the helm, the team has less time left to complete its roster, which currently includes Silvia Dominguez, Iyana Martin, Andrea Vilaro, Arica Carter, Antonia Delaere, Laura Gil, Laura Cornelius, Mariella Fasoula, Sika Koné, and Arella Guirantes.
Montañana’s Previous Experience with Avenida
As a player, Montañana was part of the team that won the Euroleague in 2011. She has a deep understanding of the team’s culture and will look to bring her experience and expertise to the coaching role.
