Pepe López is crowned champion of Spain in Tenerife

Pepe López and Borja Rozada are already five-time champions of Spain. The Madrid couple has scored their fifth national title after finishing third in the Villa de Adeje Rally, in which it was worth being sixth to be crowned. The victory went to his greatest rival, Efrén Llarena, that has culminated the runner-up after being proclaimed champion of Europe.

López faced the test in Tenerife with a head, knowing that he had a lot to lose if he made a mistake. Thus, He knew how to swim and put away his clothes and he did not interfere in the fight between Llarena and the local idol, Enrique Cruz, who was playing for the Canarian title. The European champion was intractable and Cruz had to surrender to the evidence and secure the insular crown.

Lopez was third (second for the purposes of the Spanish Championship) and secured his fifth national title after the double crowns achieved in 2019 and 2020 on asphalt and the mixed super championship. “It was a new program from the beginning, we fought a lot, it has been a very busy year, and now Being here with the title is a source of pride for Borja and me. We had to run with our heads, which was what we had to do here, we have been very focused throughout the rally, which has passed quickly, really. But I wanted to finish on the podium, and we have achieved it”, assured the man from Madrid as soon as he crossed the finish line.

The other contender for the title, Alejandro Cachón, was harmed by a penalty due to a traffic problem on a link, and he was not able to get involved in the fight for the win as he would have liked, although he has been the great revelation of the season and next year everything indicates that he will run in the World Cup.
