Penafiel’s Estádio Municipal 25 de Abril is undergoing a major pitch and infrastructure overhaul, marking a significant investment in modernization by the club’s new ownership.
The upgrade involves installing a “next-generation hybrid pitch.” This project is being carried out by the Italian company Limonta.
Limonta has a track record of maintaining pitches for top European clubs, including AC Milan and Real Madrid.
The new technology combines naturalness and durability, ensuring optimal performance, according to a club statement. It is expected to place the stadium among Europe’s best playing surfaces.
This development is part of a broader strategic investment plan. The new ownership is leading this initiative.
The plan aims to strengthen the club’s sporting and operational conditions. It includes a complete renovation of the drainage and irrigation systems.
Penafiel’s sports company (SAD) reaffirmed its commitment to sporting excellence and infrastructure modernization. This aligns with the sustainability standards of its parent business group.
Work to replace the pitch began on Sunday.
The ongoing renovation required the club to relocate its upcoming home match against Sporting B. That game, scheduled for next Saturday, will now be played in Vizela.
