Peña, Castillo and Marcel lead Gigantes triumph

Richelson Peña allowed one run and four hits in six innings, Marcell Ozuna and Iván Castillo had two RBIs each and the Gigantes del Cibao defeated the Leones del Escogido 6-1 last night at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium.

Peña (2-1) drew a walk and fanned the breeze to another. The Panamanian Humberto Mejía (2-2) lost, whom the Giants punished for the second straight outing, this time with five rounds, including four clean ones, he did not base and struck out five.

Reliever pitchers Derrick Loop, Michael and Enrique Burgos completed Peña’s work by allowing just one hit in the remaining three innings.

After the game, the longhairs put their record at 13-25, and the Giants at 19-20.
