Pedro Martins’ Al Gharafa wins Qatar Amir Cup beating Artur Jorge’s Al Rayyan

Al Gharafa’s coach Pedro Martins held the Amir Cup trophy aloft after his team’s 2-1 win over Al Rayyan, led by Artur Jorge.
This victory marked Al Gharafa’s eighth title in the tournament and their first since 2012. It’s also their first trophy since 2019, when they won the Stars Cup.

The game began with a bang as Al Gharafa scored just three minutes in. Sassi netted the goal with an assist from Ganehi.
Their lead grew when Joselu, a former Real Madrid player, headed in the second goal 14 minutes later.
Al Rayyan fought back in the second half with a penalty kick by Roger Guedes at the 49-minute mark.
Despite their efforts, including a red card for Sano at 63 minutes, Al Rayyan couldn’t level the score.
André Amaro, a former Vitória de Guimarães player, played the full 90 minutes for Al Rayyan.
In the end, Al Gharafa celebrated their win. The team’s roster included Brahimi, a former FC Porto midfielder, and Rodrigo Moreno, a former Benfica forward.
