As far as music releases go, 2024 is definitely off to a good start. The first few days of the year saw the release of highly anticipated albums, but in the coming months come albums that promise a lot that we didn’t even see coming. Among them is Pearl Jam return with new music.
As you will remember, It was in 2020 –in the middle of a pandemic– cWhen the legendary grunge band released their eleventh and latest album, Gigaton. At the time, Eddie Vedder and company couldn’t promote it properly (you know, with shows all over the world). However, over the years they not only returned to the stage, but also worked in the studio.
Pearl Jam returns after four years with a new album: “Dark Matter”
In particular, the group’s lead guitarist, Mike McCready, made it clear in several interviews that they had been composing all along and even had material to release an album (you can watch our conversation with him here). But despite all odds and to the surprise of many Pearl Jam announced with great fanfare that they would return in 2024 with a new album titled Dark matter.
The Seattle band’s twelfth album features 11 songs fresh out of the ovenwhat loud NMEwere produced by Andrew Watt (who has worked with artists such as Lana Del Rey, Blink-182, Ozzy Osbourne, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone and others). And perhaps what excites us most What’s special about this album is that it will have a heavier sound compared to their last albums..
To warm up engines, Pearl Jam also released the first single from their new album, which shares the same name as this material.. And how does it sound? Well, the song starts with a hard-hitting drum rhythm to which distorted guitars are added, resulting in very cool riffs and solos that give you some good air guitar. And of course we couldn’t ignore Eddie Vedder’s voice when singing the lyrics, which sounds impeccable and powerful as always.
Not least, The grunge legends confirmed that this new album will be available everywhere from April 19th, so we’ll just have to wait a while to listen to it in full. Although yes, we would be happy if they returned to Mexico to present it, but it is fair and necessary, don’t you think?
