Peaky Blinders’ Paul Anderson convicted of drug possession

Paul Anderson, the actor who gave birth to Arthur Shelby Peaky BlindersHe was convicted of drug possession.

The British artist achieved great international recognition through his participation in the successful Netflix series. His character there was the brother of “Tommy Shelby”, the protagonist of the series, played by Cillian Murphy.

However, the memorable role he played is overshadowed by legal problems as Paul was involved in a legal problem for drug possession.

Why was Paul Anderson charged with drug possession?

In December 2023, Anderson was in a pub in north-east London when a customer complained about the smell of smoke coming from the bathroom.

The owner of the bar called the police and Paul was found in an altered state of consciousness. When authorities took him to the police station, they discovered he was in possession of crack cocaine, amphetamines and two prescription drugs: diazepam and pregabalin. He later tested positive for cocaine and opiates in toxicology tests.

Now the 48-year-old artist had to appear in court, where he pleaded guilty. For this reason, he has to pay a fine of 1,345 pounds sterling (approximately US$1,704).

The Brit’s defense denied that the actor had used crack, explaining that “people often give him incentives because of his lifestyle, so he found himself in an unfortunate situation and should have had the strength to say no.”

Additionally, Paul Anderson’s lawyer Moira MacFarlane said that the artist is doing everything “he can” to please his fans.

“You recognize the defendant from his very intense role in a current television program,” explained the lawyer. “He is often recognized and does his best to please fans of the series, often getting into character.”
