Asian Cup 2023
The Asia Cup 2023 is organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Previously this tournament was to be played entirely in Pakistan but after Team India refused to tour Pakistan the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) also added Sri Lanka as a new venue and 9 out of 13 Asian Cup matches have been played there the game against Sri Lanka. However, the hosting rights for the Asian Cup remain with the PCB. But in the middle of the Asian Cup, the PCB suddenly demanded money from the ACC.
PCB demanded money
The Pakistan Cricket Board has requested compensation from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for lost entry fees due to the Asian Cup tournament matches being relocated to Sri Lanka. However, the PCB has not yet issued an official statement on this subject. We would like to tell you that PCB suffered huge losses due to the rain at the matches played in Sri Lanka. Zaka Ashraf, CEO of the Asia Cup PCB, has reportedly written a letter to ACC boss Jai Shah demanding compensation. At the same time, he also expressed his disappointment at the scheduling of the Sri Lanka games.

The PCB boss asked who was responsible for the decision to change venues at the last minute, without taking ACC board members into their confidence. The letter said that at a meeting on September 5, it was decided by both the host countries and ACC members that the games should be held in Hambantota, after which Sri Lanka’s chief curator left to prepare the pitch. Even for the transmission, the necessary arrangements were made in Hambantota. According to the letter, the ACC had also sent an email to the PCB confirming this. Zaka Ashraf also said that after some time, the PCB was instructed not to take this mail into account and that it was later announced that the games would be held under the old schedule.
