Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis has established a formidable scoring reputation at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena, making him a critical player to watch should Benfica face Ajax.
Pavlidis has found the net in three of his five previous visits to the home ground of the Dutch football giants. These goals have come from various methods, including his left foot, right foot, and even a header.
His strikes have often been pivotal, opening the scoring and contributing to crucial victories for his former Eredivisie clubs. This track record positions him as a significant attacking threat.
During the 2022-23 season, playing for AZ Alkmaar, Pavlidis scored with his right foot to put his team ahead in a 2-1 away victory. The following season, 2023-24, he again scored the opening goal, this time with a header, contributing to another 2-1 win at the same venue.
His first goal at the arena came in the 2021-22 season while with Willem II, a left-footed effort during a 3-1 defeat. Prior to that, in his inaugural visit in 2019-20, he provided an assist in a 2-0 Willem II victory, despite not scoring himself.
Pavlidis has only failed to register a goal or assist in one of his five appearances at the Johan Cruyff Arena, a goalless draw for AZ Alkmaar in the 2022-23 campaign.
