The Disciplinary Council of the FPF has handed Paulo Victor a two-game ban. This decision comes after he received a red card in a recent match against Benfica. It means the left-back will miss crucial time on the field.
During the game, the 26-year-old Brazilian left-back was sent off. The referee judged his action as violent play. He struck an opponent, Tomás Araújo, in the head with his foot. Officials felt he used too much force. This put the other player’s safety at risk.
Paulo Victor’s team argued that his action was not an attack. They said it was not a deliberate move. They explained he was simply trying to play the ball. He hit his opponent without meaning to. However, this defense was not accepted by the council. Along with the two-game suspension, Paulo Victor also received a fine of 123 euros.
