Former England cricketer Paul Collingwood is expected to be appointed as England’s interim head coach for next month’s Test series against the West Indies. The Daily Mail reported: “The current coaching staff could be revamped by moving Collingwood from assistant coach and caretaker managing director Andrew Strauss to focus on identifying personnel and preparing the team for the domestic and international season.”

On the other hand, Justin Langer resigned as head coach of Australia. Sir Andrew Strauss changed the composition of the team, speeding up both short-term and long-term plans.

Collingwood coached England in the T20I series against the West Indies, when all the teams taking part in the Ashes tour were rested for the series. Former England starter Marcus Trescothick was appointed assistant coach for the season on tour. However, the West Indies defeated England 3-2 in the five-match T20I series.

Collingwood did not return to Britain after overseeing the England team’s 3-2 T20I loss to the Windies, staying in Barbados for a holiday with his three daughters.

His reputation as the man who first led England to the ICC Trophy in 2010 and whose cricketing mind continues to shape limited international thinking. He would be a strong candidate to become white ball coach after being hinted by Strauss.
