Ski jumper Patrick Gasienica died Monday night in a motorcycle accident at the age of 24. The American was driving through the town of Bull Valley, on the outskirts of Chicago, when he had an accident with the vehicle, according to local police. The American started ski jumping since he was a child at the Norge Ski Club, and debuted in his first international competition in 2015. He represented his country in the youth categories in 2016 and 2017. In 2022, he was at the Beijing Winter Olympics, where he placed 49 out of 53 in the individual category. He signed for the best position in the team competition, where he finished tenth with his teammates Kevin Bickner, Decker Dean and Casey Larson. A Patrick Gasienica Memorial Fund has been created to raise money for the ski jumper’s family.
