Twenty-three migrants in difficulty on their boat were rescued on Sunday, September 5, near Wimereux, in Pas-de-Calais, reports France North Blue. A 4-year-old child was on the boat.

The 23 migrants were trying to cross the English Channel when they suffered an engine failure. They requested assistance and were rescued by the Gris-Nez Regional Surveillance and Operational Rescue Center (CROSS). Six women and a 4-year-old child were on board. All survivors are safe and sound and have been brought to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer.

In early August, the record for the number of crossings made was broken, with more than 480 arrivals on the English coast, according to the British Ministry of the Interior. On August 12, a migrant was killed after his boat sank.
