Paris: “RepareSeb”, a repair shop for small household appliances inaugurated in the 18th

Dedicated to repairing small household appliances, the “RepareSeb” workshop was inaugurated on Tuesday 12 October at 71-73, rue de la Chapelle (18th). There, interested parties can buy second-hand equipment, and have their broken household appliances repaired, at a reduced price.

It is about “a collaborative store-workshop”, explains Florentin Letissier, the deputy mayor of Paris in charge of the social and solidarity economy, the circular economy and the contribution to the zero waste strategy. There, it will be possible to acquire second-hand Seb brand appliances (Rowenta, Téfal, Moulinex, etc.), guaranteed for two years, but also to have small household appliances repaired such as a raclette machine, a dryer. hair or an iron.

A project that carries a real environmental approach “to extend the lifespan of products” according to the elected, while “many manufacturers tend to play on planned obsolescence by selling products that deteriorate quite quickly”.

Another interesting dimension of the project according to Florentin Letissier: the repair will be supported by “employees in integration”, who will soon be 25 employees. Homeless people, young people dropping out of school or even people with disabilities “who can, thanks to this activity, begin their reintegration” and thus begin their transition “to normal jobs on the labor market”.

A project born from the merger of the multinational Seb and the player in the social and solidarity economy Ares. A “joint adventure” praised by the Parisian deputy who speaks of an “exemplary project” carried by two economic players that one might think are antithetical. And to conclude: “we must increase the number of places like this in all the districts. There should even be this kind of shops in every street ”.

RepareSeb is accessible every afternoon on weekdays, at 71-73 rue de la Chapelle (18th). And if at first, the technicians of the store-workshop will only take care of the Seb brand devices, they should soon be able to take care of all the products.
