“The Taj Story,” starring veteran actor Paresh Rawal, has struggled to find an audience at the box office, failing to cross the $1.2 million mark in its first five days. The film, which premiered on October 31, has seen consistently low collections since its release.
It opened with approximately $120,000 USD on its debut day. The film’s earnings slightly improved on Saturday, pulling in around $240,000 USD. Sunday saw its highest single-day collection at about $330,000 USD.
However, momentum quickly declined. Monday’s collections dropped to approximately $127,200 USD. On its fifth day, Tuesday, the film registered an estimated $123,600 USD, according to figures from sacnilk.
This brings its total five-day box office haul to an estimated $940,800 USD. The movie has faced stiff competition from other horror and romantic drama films in theaters.
Directed and written by Tushar Amrish Goyal, “The Taj Story” aims to explore controversial questions surrounding the construction of the Taj Mahal. It also attempts to unveil the mystery behind 22 locked rooms within the monument.
In addition to Paresh Rawal, the film features a notable cast including Zakir Hussain, Namit Das, Brajendra Kala, Amruta Khanvilkar, Shishir Sharma, Akhilendra Mishra, and Shrikant Verma.
