Paresh Rawal: ‘The Taj Story’ Presents Facts, Not Hindu-Muslim Divide

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding his upcoming film, ‘The Taj Story.’ The movie has become a subject of intense debate even before its release.

Rawal strongly asserts that the film contains no inaccuracies. He claims it will present factual information about the world-famous Taj Mahal. He believes this narrative will ultimately promote tourism.

In an interview with PTI, Rawal spoke about the “deception” often found in cinema. He maintained that ‘The Taj Story’ is unique for its adherence to facts.

Rawal was impressed by the film’s thorough research. He personally cross-referenced the historical points with several associates, confirming their veracity.

After these checks, Rawal met with director Tushar Amrish Goyal. They agreed the film would avoid “extreme nationalism” and center strictly on the Taj.

Rawal dismissed accusations that the film seeks to create a Hindu-Muslim dispute. He stressed that the production team has always steered clear of such issues.

The actor explained that their goal was to craft a well-researched, engaging film. He noted this type of project is a rare offering in their cinematic landscape.

The filmmakers contend that ‘The Taj Story’ reveals a part of Indian history. They claim this particular chapter has never been courageously brought to light before.

The initial film poster, released earlier this month, first ignited the controversy. It depicted Rawal’s character removing a dome from the Taj Mahal to reveal an idol of Lord Shiva underneath.

This imagery challenges the common perception of the monument. Some associated with the film advocate for the belief that the structure is actually ‘Tejo Mahalaya.’
