T-Mobile’s parent company, Deutsche Telekom, announced yesterday that it will increase its dominance in the crypto world by using the network of Polygon, a layer-2 scaling solution on Ethereum (ETH), to be supported by owning a validator to become. Multimedia Solutions GmbH (MMS), a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom that focuses on helping small and medium-sized businesses with their digital transformation, is leading the initiative.

Polygon validator
Deutsche Telekom will join an impressive list of collaborations that the scaling network on Ethereum already has. Big names such as Starbucks, Instagram and Reddit previously managed to join forces with Polygon.
This time, however, the collaboration involves Polygon’s consensus mechanism. As one of a total of 100 validators, Deutsche Telekom MMS will contribute to the security, governance and decentralization of Polygon’s sidechain and Supernet’s app chains through a full node spin, produce blocks, validate and checkpoints on the Ethereummainnet to capture.
These Supernets are application-specific blockchains that are designed for specific use cases.
Dirk Röder, head of the Blockchain Solution Centre at Deutsche Telekom praised Polygon in a press release because it is ”developer-friendly and resource-efficient”. He also said the following about the brand new collaboration:
“The collaboration with Polygon is an important step for Deutsche Telekom MMS to fully exploit the potential of blockchain technology and enable applications suitable for mass deployment.”
Michael Blank, de chief operating officer of Polygon Labs, was similarly enthusiastic, saying he hopes this will enable more companies to adopt blockchain technology, while at the same time allowing consumers to “experience the ownership and autonomy that Web3 technology offers.” unlock.
Deutsche Telekom in the crypto world
Deutsche Telekom’s dominance within the crypto world is marked by other blockchains it had previously embraced. In October last year you could read in the Ethereum news that the parent company of T-Mobile had announced that it would become a validator on the Ethereum network and would also allow customers to participate through a staking app.
In addition, since 2021 it has also announced support for other blockchains such as Chainlink (LINK), Polkadot (DOT), Q, Celo (CELO) and Flow (FLOW).
