The Royal Spanish Cycling Federation’s Board of Directors has officially appointed Begoña Luis Pérez as the new Paralympic road and track cycling coach.

An Experienced Coach Takes the Helm

A native of Madrid, Begoña Luis Pérez brings a wealth of experience to her new role. With a degree in Physiotherapy and a Master’s Degree in High Performance from the Spanish Olympic Committee, she has spent over twenty years working in sports for people with disabilities and high-competition environments. Her extensive experience includes working with the Spanish Paralympic cycling team since 2008, participating in four Paralympic Games. In her previous role, she served as the main technical support for outgoing coach Félix García Casas, who has been promoted to technical director of the RFEC.

A Vision for the Future of Paralympic Cycling

Begoña Luis Pérez expressed her excitement and motivation for her new appointment, stating, “I am prepared to apply all my knowledge in favor of Paralympic sport.” Her priorities include nurturing existing talent and seeking new cyclists, with a special focus on attracting women with disabilities. She also emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Spanish Paralympic Committee and the Higher Sports Council to form a competitive team for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.

A Message of Gratitude and Commitment

Begoña Luis Pérez conveyed her gratitude to the RFEC’s president, José Vicioso, and the Board of Directors for their trust and opportunity. She also acknowledged the outgoing coach, Félix García Casas, for their joint efforts over the years. With her experience and vision, Begoña Luis Pérez is poised to lead Spanish Paralympic cycling towards a bright future.
