MUMBAI: Actor Pankaj Tripathi shares his thoughts on the installation of an inflatable theater in Leh (Ladakh) by the PictureRtime Digiplex mobile digital cinema company. He says: “What a beautiful initiative. Cinema reaches the people of the interior of this country. For someone like me, who belongs to the world of cinema, this film is a unique and different means of exhibition.” ‘A theater in motion’. Established at an elevation of 11,562 feet, this theater has become the first moving cinema in the Union Territory of Ladakh. An inflatable theater was installed at NSD Ground in Leh on Sunday. The main guest of the event was Thupstan Chewang, president of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, while actor Pankaj Tripathi was the special guest.

A short film titled ‘Sekool’ (a film about the Changpa nomads of Ladakh) directed by Stanzin Tankong was screened at the theater launch and received an overwhelming response. The director and actors of the film were also present. The special screening of the recently released film ‘Bell Bottom’ will also be organized for Army and CISF in the evening.

It offers projection of digital movies on a large screen with Dolby 5.1 surround sound in DCI compliant mode that has a capacity of around 150 people. Taking into account the current covid protocol, the theater will currently have around 75 seats, which will require social distancing with an adequate distance between the theater seats and the spacers between seats.

It will also be an environmental control theater that will use state-of-the-art heating facilities within the inflatable theater.

Ladakh disappeared from the big movie screens

Sushil Choudhary, founder and CEO of PictureRtime Digiplex says there has always been a desire to reach the dark places of entertainment in this country. Ladakh was absent from the big movie screens for a long time and I always wanted to bring him. A multiplex viewing experience for the locals.
