Palestinian journalist was killed intentionally, joint investigation

A joint investigation into the cause of death of slain Al Jazeera journalist Shirin Abu Aqla has revealed that the woman was deliberately targeted by Israeli forces.

A joint investigation by a London-based multilateral research group and a Palestinian rights group has revealed more evidence that contradicts Israel’s assertion that the killing of veteran Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Aklih was a mistake.

Forensic Architecture Al-Haq says that the killing of Abu Aqla was deliberate. The investigation examined the angle of the Israeli sniper, which concluded that the sniper was able to clearly indicate that journalists were in the area.

Al Jazeera provided material to the investigation, which concluded that Israeli snipers fired for two minutes and deliberately targeted those trying to rescue Abu Aqla.

The sniper fired three shots, the first six shots, then eight seconds later, seven more shots. One of the bullets was the one that hit under the victim’s helmet. Two minutes later, the sniper fired three more shots to stop attempts to rescue him.
