A house in Montevideo’s Palermo neighborhood came under gunfire around 9 p.m. Wednesday. The attack happened on San Salvador y Magallanes street, where two wooden doors face the road.
Witnesses say the shots were fired from a motorcycle. The rider slowed down and targeted the house directly. Police responded to a 911 call and arrived at the scene.
A 29-year-old man who lives there told investigators he was inside when he heard the gunshots. Forensic experts found five spent bullet casings on the street – two were .38 caliber, and three were 9mm. The evidence was seized to help identify those responsible and determine if the guns were used in other crimes.
Some neighbors told News Agency they prefer to remain anonymous. They described the people living in the house as “conflictive.” These neighbors claimed they’ve filed complaints about threats and issues with the household. They also said this wasn’t the first time the house was shot at.
