Pakistan’s foreign minister is going to India after a century

Pakistan’s foreign minister is going to India after a long time. Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference to be held in India next May.

The Foreign Ministers’ Conference will be held in Goa, India on May 4 and 5. So Pakistan was invited as a member country.

In a statement on Thursday, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said that Pakistan’s delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization has a total of 8 member countries. These countries are – China, India, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. India is chairing the SCO for the year 2022-23. The SCO meeting of Foreign Ministers to be held in May. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar sent this invitation to the Pakistani Foreign Minister through the Indian Embassy in Islamabad to participate in this summit.

Incidentally, Pakistan’s foreign minister is going to come to India after almost a century. The then Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khan set foot in India last year in 2011. Then in 2014, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came to India for the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Pakistan for the last time on behalf of India in 2015. After that, due to various reasons including the attack on the army truck in Pulwama, the Pathankot attack, the relationship between the two countries became strained.
