Within the Pakistan Cricket Board, there is frequent interference from the ruling power. When Zaka Ashraf recently took over the presidency, it was said that he was close to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Now, once again, something has happened that has caused an uproar in Pakistani cricket. The issue of ignoring former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who captained Pakistan to world champions in 1992, has become heated. In fact, on August 14, PCB shared a video on Twitter about the history of Pakistani cricket. Imran Khan was not featured anywhere in this video. After that, the question of his neglect came to the fore. Wasim Akram, who was part of the winning team at the 1992 World Cup, now has his say.

Shame on PCB trends on Twitter

Wasim Akram expressed his anger at this action by the Pakistan Cricket Board and posted his response on his Twitter profile. He also described this PCB action as the greatest shock of his life. Previously, people had expressed their displeasure at the ignoring of Imran on social media. On August 14, PCB released a video of two minutes and 20 seconds in which Imran is nowhere to be seen. He captained the Pakistan team that won the 1992 ODI World Cup. Imran is so popular in Pakistan that following this PCB push, “Shame on PCB” trended on Twitter in Pakistan.

What did Wasim Akram say?

Wasim Akram wrote in his Twitter post that seeing Pakistan’s cricket sideline Imran Khan was the biggest shock of my life. Political differences have their place but Imran Khan is an icon of world cricket, no one can forget that. He has also made Pakistan a strong team throughout his career. PCB should delete this video immediately and apologize for it as well. Before Akram, former PCB chairman Khalid Mahmood had also reprimanded the PCB for this. He also said the video should be removed immediately.

Imran Khan imprisoned

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI), has been in Attock prison in Punjab province since August 5. He was sentenced to three years in prison in a corruption case. The Pakistan Electoral Commission has also banned him from politics for the next five years. PTI had recently complained that Imran was being held in worse conditions in prison.
