Pakistan Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 Squad Revealed: Nida Dar to Lead the Team

The Women’s T20 Asia Cup is set to take place from July 19 to 28 in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. The Pakistan cricket board has announced the squad for the tournament, with Nida Dar set to captain the team.

Four-day training camp concludes

Recently, the Pakistani team had a four-day training camp in Karachi, which ended on Saturday. The camp was aimed at gearing up the team for the upcoming tournament. Unfortunately, Ayesha Zafar and Natalia Parvez have been dropped from the squad.

Players out of the team

Ayesha Zafar, Natalia Parvez, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar have not made the cut for the Pakistani women’s team for the T20 Asia Cup. All these players were part of the team that toured England last month.

Confident about new additions

Selector expressed confidence in Iram Javed, Omaima Sohail, and Syeda Arub Shah. They have been out of the team for some time but have now been welcomed back. Iram Javed and Omaima Sohail haven’t played a T20 International since 2023, but their comeback was seen as a positive step forward.

Uncapped player includes 22-year-old fast bowler

The only uncapped player in the team is 22-year-old fast bowler Tasmia Rubab. She had made a name for herself by taking wickets and scoring runs in domestic cricket.

Coaching staff revealed

Muhammad Wasim is the coach of the Pakistani women’s team. Abdur Rehman serves as the spin bowling coach, while Junaid Khan is the assistant coach.

Team position and group stage

Pakistan women’s team has been placed in Group A for the T20 Asia Cup, alongside India, Nepal, and UAE. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia make up Group B. The top-2 teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
