PAK vs. BAN Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 Match
The Pakistan Cricket Board has sparked a long-running controversy over hosting the 2023 Asian Cup. Everyone from Rameez Raja to Najam Sethi, who has chaired the PCB chairman, was adamant that the entire tournament be staged in Pakistan. India refused to go to Pakistan due to security concerns and political differences. After that, they somehow agreed on the hybrid model and decided to play three league games and one Super 4 game of the tournament in Pakistan. But India was not involved in those four games. It was agreed that the remaining games would be played in Sri Lanka. But Pakistan too felt offended by the hosting of those four games.
The game was suspended for 20 minutes
The Pakistan Cricket Board hosted the first Super 4 game of the tournament on its ground. The match between Bangladesh and Pakistan was played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Something happened in this match that caused PCB to be offended. In addition, there was also a lot of uproar on social media. What actually happened was that the floodlights were suddenly turned off as the Pakistan innings started after the Bangladesh innings. After that, the game was suspended for about 20 minutes. That’s how people on social media started asking if it was Pakistan that wanted to host the whole tournament.
Making fun of Pakistan
In the first game of the Super 4 phase of the 2023 Asian Cup, the Bangladesh team was reduced to 193 runs in the first game against Pakistan. In response, the Pakistani team batted, scoring 15 runs in five overs without losing wickets. At the same time, a floodlight mast in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium went out. The exact reason for the shutdown of the floodlights could not be determined at this time. But after this hindrance, the game was interrupted for about 20 minutes.
PCB is heavily trolled on social media
Because of this break, the rhythm of bowlers in Bangladesh also deteriorated significantly. The Bangladesh bowlers got off to a good start in the first five overs. Shariful Islam caused problems in both opening rounds. But the break affected the bowlers’ rhythm. After that, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam were definitely released early but Imam’s eyes froze and he Bangladesh won the game by playing innings of 78 runs. At this time, the Pakistan Cricket Board has not provided any clarification on the entire matter.
