Pakistan Cricket Team Faces Leadership Overhaul Amid Captaincy Changes

Big changes are coming to the Pakistan cricket team. Just a few months ago, Babar Azam was removed as captain. Mohammad Rizwan took over as captain of the white ball teams, while Shan Masood remained the test captain. But now, reports say both Rizwan and Masood might lose their captaincy roles.

A Pakistan media outlet, Geo Super News, claims the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will soon announce Salman Ali Agha as the new captain of all three formats. Agha was made the T20 team captain earlier this year and led the team to a 3-0 series win over Bangladesh. A source says Agha impressed the selectors with his performances.

The source revealed, “Agha has been doing well in all formats, and the selectors, new coach Mike Hesson, and PCB chairman Mohsin Nakvi all agree he should be the captain.”

So, why the change? Reports say when it came to team selection, Rizwan’s opinions weren’t considered. He was even thinking of stepping down as captain. Now, it seems he might be removed from the role. On the other hand, a source says Masood’s Test captaincy wasn’t impressive, and his personal performance was also not great. It seems his removal as captain was already on the cards.
