Pakistan Cricket Board Shifts PSL Matches to UAE Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to relocate the remaining matches of the HBL PSL X to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Security Concerns

The decision was made to ensure the safety of both local and international players. The initial plan was to host the remaining eight matches in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore. However, the PCB has now announced that the matches will be rescheduled in the UAE, with further details to be released later.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that the board has always believed in keeping politics and sports separate. The decision to relocate the matches was made after the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was targeted. Naqvi accused India of deliberately targeting the stadium to disrupt the HBL Pakistan Super League X.

Recent Escalations

The Indian Army released a statement regarding the drone attack by Pakistan on the evening of May 8, 2025. The statement said that the Pakistani armed forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other ammunition along the western border on the night of May 8 and 9, 2025. The Pakistani troops also repeatedly violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attacks were effectively repelled, and appropriate action was taken in response to the ceasefire violations. The Indian Army remains committed to defending the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and will respond forcefully to all malicious attempts.
