Pakistan Arrests 160 Protesters After KFC Attacks, One Employee Killed

Pakistani police have arrested 160 people accused of attacking KFC restaurants and injuring staff. The arrests follow weeks of protests against US support for Israel in the Gaza conflict.

The protests, led by Islamic political parties, have targeted KFC outlets across the country. Protesters have smashed windows, set fires, and threatened staff. One KFC employee was shot dead in Lahore.

Talal Chaudhry, Pakistan’s deputy interior minister, confirmed the arrests. Most suspects were detained in Punjab province. Chaudhry said the government is taking action against those responsible. The violence has hurt local businesses and employees.

Chaudhry defended KFC, saying the chain uses local ingredients and employs Pakistanis. He argued that the company’s revenue stays in the country.

The unrest began in October after the Gaza conflict started. Now, protests have grown violent. Authorities are working to restore order and protect businesses.

KFC has been a focal point for anti-US sentiment. The US is a key ally of Israel. The situation remains tense, with more protests possible.
