Good news for movie fans! The childhood homes of film legends Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar are getting a much-needed facelift. These iconic buildings in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will soon be restored and preserved. Authorities just approved a budget of about three crore rupees for this important work.
Time has certainly taken a toll on these historic spots. Both buildings show their age. Pakistan’s government, however, declared them national heritage sites years ago. This step ensures their long-term survival. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif officially gave them this special status on July 13, 2014.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government announced the funding this week. News agency PTI confirmed the approval. The decision came from a key meeting. Provincial Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur led the session. Tourism and Archaeology Advisor Zahid Khan Shinwari was also present.
These homes are more than just old houses. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Archaeology Department has big plans for them. They want to turn both buildings into museums. These museums will tell the stories of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor. They will show their incredible journeys from Peshawar to Mumbai. Expect a special gallery for each star.
This effort is part of a bigger project. It falls under the World Bank’s KITE program. This program helps preserve history and boost tourism in the region. Other old sites and museums in the province will also get upgrades. The main goal is clear: protect the rich historical and cultural past. It also aims to encourage more people to visit these heritage spots.
