Brazilian esports powerhouse paiN Gaming has announced the departure of South Korean top laner Choi “Wizer” Eui-seok, ending a four-year tenure marked by a national championship and a groundbreaking international performance.
Wizer joined the organization in December 2021 and quickly became a pivotal figure, establishing himself as one of the team’s cornerstones.
His time with paiN Gaming culminated in a 2024 CBLOL (Brazilian League of Legends Championship) title, the latest in the league. He also led the team to a historic qualification for the Swiss stage of Worlds 2024, the global championship, a feat a Brazilian team had not achieved in eight years.
Beyond his in-game accomplishments, Wizer made history as the first South Korean player to obtain Brazilian residency while competing in the CBLOL.
paiN Gaming released an emotional statement acknowledging Wizer’s significant impact, saying, “Today is the day to say goodbye to one of the greatest top laners who has ever worn our shirt.”
“Wizer was not only the first South Korean to become a resident in CBLOL playing for Brazil, he chose to write this story with paiN as his home. And what a story,” the team stated.
The organization further elaborated on his journey, noting the immense pressure he faced and his consistent resilience. “Within the team, he was even greater: he connected with Brazilians, welcomed other Koreans, and became part of the family,” the statement added. “After four years, a CBLOL title, and a historic Worlds campaign, our paths diverge.”
