Ozzy Osbourne: Family Reveals Final Years, Health Battles in Paramount+ Documentary

A new look into the final chapters of rock icon Ozzy Osbourne’s life is coming to Paramount+. A powerful trailer for the upcoming documentary, Ozzy: No Escape From Now, dropped on Wednesday, September 17. It gives fans a raw glimpse into the legendary musician’s last years.

"What happens when you get older is that before I took pills for fun, now I take them to stay alive," the Black Sabbath frontman shares in the preview. This line sets a clear, honest tone for the film. Directed by Tania Alexander, the documentary covers the last six years of Osbourne’s life. It shows his journey as he prepared for what would be his final concert, a special show at the Back to the Beginning festival in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, explains his feelings about those last performances. "Ozzy’s only regret is that he never truly said goodbye to his fans," she says in the video. She refers to his decision to perform one last time with Black Sabbath. Sharon adds, "He had a brilliant career and it ended brilliantly."

The film also includes heartfelt interviews with Ozzy and Sharon’s children. Their three kids, Aimee, 42, Kelly, 40, and Jack, 39, speak openly about their dad. (Ozzy also had a daughter, Jessica, and a son, Louis, with his first wife, Thelma Riley. He adopted his son Elliot from a previous relationship.) Aimee recalls a tough time for her father. "Having to cancel the tour was really his biggest disappointment," she mentions, talking about Ozzy canceling his planned farewell tour in 2019 due to a spinal injury.

Kelly shares how much joy music brought him, even as his health declined. "I took dad to the studio every day," she remembers fondly. "He would get comfortable, and it was like magic began." Ozzy himself confirms this feeling in the documentary. "I had a great time," he states. "That was the best medicine I’ve had. I’m not good at being sick. My place is up there [on stage]."

The trailer closes with a thoughtful Ozzy looking directly at the camera. "If my life is coming to an end, I really can’t complain," he says. "I had a great life." Beyond his immediate family, No Escape From Now includes insights from other music legends. Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, guitarist Zakk Wylde, Metallica’s James Hetfield, and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, along with many other musicians, are featured.

Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22 at the age of 76. He had bravely battled Parkinson’s disease for a long time. His family shared a statement through Us Weekly at the time. "With a sadness words cannot express, we must inform that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning," the statement read. "He was accompanied by his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time." Ozzy was laid to rest at a funeral in Birmingham on July 30.

Fans can watch Ozzy: No Escape From Now when it premieres on Paramount+ on Tuesday, October 7.
