Oviedo Turns Focus to Rafa Márquez

Barcelona Atlètic was left on the verge of promotion to LaLiga Hypermotion. Despite not achieving what they wanted at the end of the season, the objectives set at the beginning were far exceeded: they placed third in group 1 of the First RFEF and they reached the playoff final.

Rafa Marquez, coach of the culé subsidiary, said that his intention was to stay if the team was promoted to the Second division. Although this was not the case, the merit of his work in his second year as Barça coach has made him choose: stay at Barça B or go to a higher category team.

Oviedo, Rafa Márquez’s alternative

Oviedo is very close to saying goodbye to Luis Carrión, the coach who was about to promote the Asturian team to First division 23 years later. It has been ringing around Las Palmas for a long time, the club best positioned to hire him.

The Mexican Jesus Martinez, the largest shareholder of Real Oviedo and head of the Pachuca Group, trusts in the renewal of Luis Carrión, or at least that is what he said after the defeat against Espanyol. If the coach leaves, however, he has Márquez in his sights.

Barça’s intention

For its part, Barcelona’s intention is to stay with its coach. The objective of Barça B is to create talent and promote players to the first team or to other First Division clubs, and in the Catalan entity they are satisfied with the work done.

What the Mexican has achieved with his footballers has not been easy: many of the young youth squad players have become part of the first team, so they have not trained with the reserve team. His team is one of the youngest in the division: the average age is no more than 21 years old.
