Oviedo and Sporting battle for the great bargain of the relegated Lugo

With their permanence in the silver category assured, both the Carbayón and the rojiblanco clubs are beginning to think about the 2023-24 season, where they have set their sights on a potential signing.

LaLiga Smartbank is already defined in terms of the teams that will be relegated and those that will play the promotion playoffs, Oviedo and Royal Sporting they barely managed to stay. but with that objective already accomplished (although the main one was promotion) they will start working on planning their respective squads.

Both squads will revive a new edition of the Asturian derby, but from the offices, since they have noticed the same striker. This is the Spanish-Bolivian Jaume Cuéllar, who ends his contract with the already relegated CD Lugo. The left winger was one of the few who stood out in the Galician team, and that is why he made it to the agendas of Oviedo and Sporting.

Jaume Cuéllar was one of the few notable players in one of the worst teams not only in Spain, but in Europe.

Cuéllar wants to continue in LaLiga Smartbank, and his destiny is reduced to Oviedo or Sporting

There are two paths that the 21-year-old striker has at the moment. These come from the Principality of Asturias, since under no circumstances does he think of playing in the First RFEF with his current team. In fact, the striker rejected the renewal offer a few weeks ago, when the future of CD Lugo was sentenced in LaLiga Smartbank.

In this way, Jaume Cuéllar’s agent is already analyzing the two offers to determine which is the best for his player, both financially and sportingly. The winger accumulated 1,978 minutes in the current season, scoring 2 goals and 5 assists. For that reason, he wants to continue being a protagonist in the team where he decides to sign.

Oviedo and Sporting on equal terms to sign Cuéllar

Both squads are going to have multiple starts in their respective squads, and in the case of Cuéllar’s position, there are equal conditions. Both the Carbayón club and Sportinguista have 3 left wingers, of which 2 will end their contract in 2023. Thus, the Spanish-Bolivian striker can be sure that wherever he arrives, he will have minutes to spare.

In the case of Real Oviedo, it is Borja Sánchez who has the guaranteed place. The players Manu Vallejo and Raúl Moro, will return to their original teams, after the expiration of the loan. Meanwhile, at Sporting de Gijón, Dani Queipo has been ratified to continue at El Molinón. Jony and Jordán Carrillo will define their future next week.
