Otaegui falls short against the infallible Strydom

the south african Ockie Strydom, number 384 in the world ranking, achieved his first victory on the DP World Golf Tour this Sunday by winning the Alfred Dunhill Championshipwhich was played at Leopard Creek in Malelane (South Africa), with a two stroke lead over Adrián Otaegui from San Sebastian and an 18 under par overall for the tournament.

Strydom forged his victory on his exceptional course on Saturday (9 under par) and on the last day he did not want to waste his advantage, even though he needed six more strokes than the day before to cover the 18 holes. Otaegui, who had finished his round on Saturday down seven, extended his good moment with a -4 that gave him second place alone. The Gipuzkoan, with four wins on the circuit and number 95 in the world ranking, got four birdies on the last day, without a single bogey.

The best card of the last day was for the Englishman Laurie Canter, who with -8 rose to third place alone, three strokes from the winner. The other Spaniards finished outside the top-40: Santiago Tarrio in 41, Jorge Campillo in 52 and Alejandro Cañizares in 68.
