India’s Official Entry ‘Missing Ladies’ Exits Oscars 2025
India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards, ‘Missing Ladies,’ has been eliminated from the competition. The film, produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Kiran Rao, was a strong contender but failed to make it to the next round.

Aamir Khan’s Campaigning Efforts
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao had been actively campaigning for ‘Missing Ladies’ in America until last month. Despite their efforts, the film failed to secure a spot in the next round.
‘Santosh’ Makes it to the Next Round
However, the Hindi language film ‘Santosh,’ directed by British Indian filmmaker Sandhya Suri and sent by the UK to Oscars 2025, has been shortlisted for the next round. The film tells the story of a widow who becomes a police constable and must solve the case of a young lady’s murder.
‘Missing Ladies’ Box Office Performance
‘Missing Ladies’ was released on March 1, 2024, and received immense love from critics and the public. The film, made on a budget of Rs 5 crore, earned Rs 20.58 crore in India and Rs 27.06 crore worldwide.
