Oscar Piastri Wins Dominant Miami GP, Extends Formula 1 Championship Lead

Oscar Piastri’s dominance continued in the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, further solidifying his lead in the championship with his fourth win of the season and third consecutive victory, following Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The McLaren team proved unbeatable once again, with Piastri finishing over 30 seconds ahead of the next closest car. Lando Norris came in second, 4.6 seconds behind his teammate. The top two drivers are now pulling ahead in the championship standings, leaving Max Verstappen, who finished fourth, in their wake.

Verstappen was preceded by George Russell’s Mercedes, which took third place. The early stages of the race were marked by intense battles between McLaren and Verstappen. Norris lost ground early on after a fierce duel with the Red Bull driver, but Piastri remained unchallenged.

As the race progressed, controversy brewed within the Ferrari camp. Drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc complained to their engineers about gaining positions through pit strategy rather than on-track action. This has sparked debate within the team.

Other Notable Performances

Alexander Albon’s consistent performance earned him fifth place for Williams, ahead of Kimi Antonelli’s Mercedes. Ferrari’s Leclerc and Hamilton were criticized for not directly racing each other, instead relying on pit calls to gain positions. Leclerc ultimately finished seventh, ahead of Hamilton, who collided with Carlos Sainz during the race.

Yuki Tsunoda held off Isack Hadjar to finish tenth, despite a 10-second penalty for speeding in the pits.
